When buying popsicles, a sesquipedalian vocabulary is my only real criterion.

You'll actually find that on a lot of popsicle packages (if not so prominently), as it's actually the official industry term for things like popsicles and fudgesicles, distinguishing them from, say, iced cream, which is stirred while freezing... there's a discussion of this in Daniel Pinkwater's wonderful childrens' book Borgel.
